Release Day Blitz: XO, Zach by Kendall Ryan

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he'd left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty--and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I'm crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that's the only reaction I can get out of you, I'll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I'm falling for you, and I know it's wrong. I know that I'm only supposed to be your adviser and nothing more, but here's the thing. I think you're falling for me too.

xo, Zach

Kendall's books always pull me in and this one was extra special. I was super excited to meet Zach and at the first taste, I was hooked.
I did not want to put this book down, it was sexy, it was funny and oh so sweet. This one was definitely one you can consider a slow burn, and you know what's best about them? It's that you know the climax will always be explosive ( pun intended (; ). These two had been playing with fire since day one, their chemistry was off the charts since their first eye lock and the whole forbidden relationship just added fuel to the fire. It was bout to be an explosive and amazing surrender!

You'll love Zach from the first moment you meet him! He's a sexy looking man, who is artistic, 'professional' (well, this one is debatable but he sure looks pretty fine in a suit), a closet or not so closet romantic and just - a for sure good guy. He's at that point in his life where he's done with playing the field, he wants to settle down and begin building a family, the only thing that he's missing is the RIGHT girl.

“She doesn’t want to take it any farther than one kiss we had at a party.” “Well, that’s because it was at a party. Have you wined-and-dined her? Has my son, the Poet with a capital P, tried to romance her? Or have you just Zach-Attacked the girl?”

Poppy is a writer/poet finishing her education. She is also a single mother. I really liked Poppy. She knew what she wanted in her life and what was the right thing to do for her, her future and for her son. She couldn't just jump into a relationship with her adviser, it wasn't just taboo but could ruin all their futures. She couldn't just think about how Zach made her feel, there was so much more at play than satisfying their needs. I loved that she didn't let lust overrule her decisions. It also made it perfect for their relationship, it allowed them to build a solid foundation, a friendship before they really became more.

“And if he’s half as good looking as he is sweet, I’d say you need to hold onto this one.”

Rate: 4,7/5 stars

XO, Zach is a book that is a lot more than the typical taboo student/adviser relationship. It was real, it was authentic and so so good. It will have you laughing out loud a lot, there are some pretty awesome and hilarious side characters that make this story even greater.  Mostly it is just the perfect light and sweet read that will leave you with a beautifully real smile on your face!
