Review: Dear Bridget, I Want You, Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

Title: Dear Bridget, I want you
Author: Penelope Ward, Vi Keeland
Publication Date: September 18, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Rate: 4,5 / 5 stars

And once again Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward threw this out of the park! I seriously love anything these two write whether it's as a duo or individually. There are definitely both auto-read authors for me.
I expected nothing less of V & P. Of course they would make me fall in love with a sexy British doctor named Simon, I mean who wouldn't fall in love with such a character. I loved getting to know Simon, he was super inappropriate, funny, couldn't be sexier and he was such a sweet guy without even trying. I loved the little bits of him and Brendan, their connection was undeniable right from the start even for a guy who thought he never wanted a family.

Both Bridget and Simon had their own ghosts and neither wanted or was ready for a relationship but their chemistry was evident and their feelings grew with every interaction. At one point, they just had to stop fighting it. I couldn't put this down, it was just so good and compelling and I just seriously loved everything about this book. V & P know how to do it right!!

And can I just say that I was not expecting THAT, I feel like that part of the plot just fell out of the sky or something but I cannot lie, I thought it was brilliant, even though I hate those kind of situations. You'll know what I mean if you've read the book or are going to read it. You definitely should! I know this is so evasive but I don't want to spoil anyone.

Blurb:
Dear Bridget,
I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.
So, here goes.
We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.
But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.
I want you.
The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.
So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.
No questions asked.
Think about it.
Or don’t.
Whatever you choose.
It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.
--Simon

'Bad Reputation' Review

Title: Bad Reputation
Series: Bad Boys of Sports #1
Author: Nicole Edwards
Publication Date: October 3, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance

So this time I did things I little different, I decided to try something new, I wrote my thoughts on the book as I was reading it and not after I finished the whole thing. This is how it went, every time I read a bit I wrote my thoughts on it, not necessarily right after (I started this book right after I finished Drunk Dial, in the early a.m. and when I put it down I went right off to sleep), so I just wrote before I picked it up again.

Ok, right off the bat you get to know the main characters in the book and their background together. And you get the feel what the book is gonna be about. Of course you'd already know from reading the blurb, duuh! Spoiler alert: it's one of my favorites, best friends to lovers!!
My feeling so far are: Chase is an actual nice guy pretending to be a huge jerk and womanizer but in reality he isn't, at least not as much as he makes himself to be. Cassie is getting on my nerves, I don't really like her so far, she's Chase's best friend but the way she talks about him and just doesn't know the real REAL Chase doesn't sit right with me! I get that he's been her only bff for YEARS and she hasn't let herself think about him as an actual  male but they way she talks or just thinks about him sometimes, I seriously don't like it. She seems to be starting to think about it, since everyone can see that if they aren't in a romantic relationship yet, they will be someday and their not afraid to be vocal about it. Also, even though she's just not picturing the guy naked in the same room as her,  you can tell every time she mentions him with girls, she's jealous, it's not obvious to anyone but us readers. I'm curious how their relationship will develop into more than friendship, I have a feeling it will be on their trip to Vegas and things are about to get real hot!! (I left off at 33%.)
Guess what I was totally right! Things got steamy in Vegas, but not only steamy, mistakes were made and things really went to shit for some of the characters. I won't got into great detail because I feel like I already did say to much and to those of you who don't like any type of spoilers might already be pissed at me for that. A lot happens in Vegas and after Vegas, things get complicated, relationship wise and among other things. Cassie managed to keep getting on my nerves throughout the rest of the book. I seriously disliked her sometimes. I just don't how she could be Chase's best friend and think so poorly of him sometimes, specially since he was the sweetest guy towards her, seriously he was perfect. She was the only one who couldn't see it or believe it and it just pissed me off. I felt really protective of Chase, he was such a good guy and Cassie was hurting him and that was not okay! I get that Cassie had all sorts of Mommy issues but that doesn't make it ok for her to hurt my baby Sin.
Anyway gotten that out of the way and my chest, this is a fast passed read, it's funny sometimes, sometimes sad or frustrating and the sexual scenes are HOT. I mean that, Chase and Cassie had years YEARS of sexual tension to release and boy did they!

Blurb:
Chase: With a nickname like “Sin,” it’s no wonder they call me the bad boy of hockey. Opponents curse me. Fans scream my name—in the arena and in other, much more private places. Penalties or not, I’m not afraid to dish out a little pain. But pleasure? That’s my weakness. And no one knows it better than my best friend, Cassie Desrosiers. I’d have to be blind not to notice her rocking body and teasing grin. So when she invites me along on a trip to Vegas, my curiosity isn’t the only thing that’s aroused.

Cassie: Chase Barrett is a world-class A-hole. As his best friend, I’m allowed to call him on his BS. Who else is going to do it? Certainly not the puck bunnies swooning at every flex of his biceps. Everyone knows that Chase is the love-’em-and-leave-’em type. There’s no such thing as commitment for the king of casual hookups. So why should I care? Maybe because all work and no play makes me a sexually frustrated girl. It’s time to put the hockey stud at my beck and call to good use . . . but after a week in Vegas with Chase, I might never want to go back to the real world.

My hand reaches for the worn-out button on my alarm clock, patting it a few times until the annoying beep ceases. Whoever created this jarring sound is made of evil. The noise is meant to rouse me from my sleep; instead, it shocks my heart into a faster rhythm and scares the ever-loving crap out of me each time. Even when I’m already awake.

Liam adjusts behind me, showing me that even after all these years, he’s still eager for me. His lips are on my bare shoulder while his fingers dig into the curvature of my hip, pulling me to an angle that is easily accessible for him. There has never been any doubt in my mind, Liam and I were made for each other. One simple touch, a lingering kiss, or a lustful look from him and I’m ready.

I roll over and face him, letting my fingers trace the tattoo of my nickname, and then onto Noah and Betty Paige’s names. The three loves of his life permanently etched over his heart.

“Are you sure you want to leave me?” he asks as he moves over to my pillow.

Thoughts on this masterpiece:

I didn't think it was possible to fall more in love with Gripstol or for their love and connection to grow even more, but all that happened. I loved reading Still just as I loved reading Flow and Grip. This whole series took over my life in an unexpected way, I loved these characters so damn much and I feel like they changed my life in a way. Reading about their struggles in this world, their community and their relationship was so raw and real, it was truly an amazing and authentic experience reading this book.
Kennedy once again blew me out of the park with her writing and capacity to give us a fictional story that seemed so damn real, because in a way it is. Grip and Bristol might be only fictional characters but everything that happened to them is damn well possible out in the real world. And, a lot of the things that happened to them and the hurtles they had to climb over because of the color of their skin have been real life hurtles since the beginning of time for millions and millions of people.

I basically went through every damn emotion while reading this book, it had me all over the place. I laughed, I swooned, a lot and probably smiled at my screen like a damn fool but I also cried and hurt a lot because you couldn't just not to with the shit that Grip and Bristol were faced with. And I was also pretty damn proud of both of them, because they were so damn strong and courageous and their love was the most powerful love I have ever witnessed. Truer words never spoken, I swear they will go down in history as the greatest love story I have ever read up until this point.

I loved every bit of reading this series and I'm damn certain they will occupy a very special place in my heart forever and that they will stay in my mind for a really long time after reading their story.

This is a MUST read series guys, I swear if you have not gotten that from my previous reviews, I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS SERIES, E V E R Y O N E!! I swear this series has the possibility to change lives, mine was definitely shook by reading these books; they are important, they are relevant and I swear they are so beyond amazing, so well written and just the best kind of love story there is. I just... I don't think I can truly explain or put into words how much this series has meant to me and how much I truly loved it.

Review : The Songs in Our Hearts, Chantal Gadoury

Title: The Songs in Our Hearts
Author: Chantal Gadoury
Publication Date: September 19, 2017
Genre: Young Adult

Rate: 4,2 / 5 sweet stars

Chantal approached me to read one or more of her books in exchange for an honest review and I'm so glad she did! When I read the blurb for 'The Songs in Our Hearts' I was like 'This seems sweet. It actually sounds like something I would love.', so of course I chose to read this and of course I had been right.

This is a short book, I seriously powered through it in a couple of hours. I just couldn't put it down, it was such a fluid read and it could not have been sweeter.
This book is the perfect read for when you're in a book slump or a book hangover and you just want a book to get you out of it and clean your palate, the kind of book that will leave you feeling good and warm. It has its share of drama, innocence and sweetness.

Mostly it's a book about a love that takes you out of your shell / comfort zone and gives you confidence in yourself. You can't help but enjoy Micah and Charlie's love story! They both fight their true feelings for a long time afraid to ruin their still pretty uncertain friendship but with good advice from an annoying brother and all his friends a sweet letter with an adjoint mix-tape is written that might just bring them together after all.

What made the book even better for me was finding out that this book is based on real life events. Micah is real. It just makes me happy to know that guys like him exist, even if he changed when he grew up, his teen heart is immortalized in this book. And basically, from a shy girl, or woman, whatever I may be (I might be 21 but sometimes I still feel 16) I just hope my Micah is out there and that one day he'll find me and help me get out of my shell.

Blurb:

High school junior Charlie Blake has never seen anyone quite like Micah Jacobs in her small town of Grand Lakes. With his carefree spirit, rough-around-the-edges personality, and handsome grin, Charlie is transfixed.

But Charlie's been burned before with her first crush, at the hands of an ex-friend and a cruel joke. Because of those scars, Charlie keeps her guard up when it comes to boys. But a class project - that may or may not involve kissing for the camera! - forces her to not only confront Micah, but her true feelings.

While prepping for the assignment, Charlie finds herself in Micah's car accompanied by the music of Journey, Elvis, The Cars, and Peter Gabriel. Between slushies, burning rafts, pizza, and great music, Charlie and Micah bond as she learns the importance of letting go of the past and opening herself to new people.

When their project comes to an end, Charlie wonders if she should finally confess everything she's been denying before she loses the chance. When words fail, will the songs in her heart be enough?
