REVIEW: 4 royal stars

I'm so glad I finally got around to read this book. It's been sitting on my TBR forever and I'm so happy I'm tackling it now that I'm finally on vacation. I'll try not to spoil anything major I promise.

Jumping into the book, you're first introduced to the main character Erica and her friends who are going on a vacation abroad together but while all Erica's friends want to do is party and sunbathe, she wants to go see the sights and experience the temples of Cambodia. So she ends up venturing out on her own and that's when she meets Sasha. They share this connection right from the start and throughout the first day they get along so great they decide to keep travelling together. Sasha being well traveled shows her around and takes her to some of his favorite places. While they are on their journey they soon fall for each other, and even though it was super fast you can't help but like seeing them together being all cute. But Sasha has been hiding a secret all along, a secret that is a big part of who he is - being a Prince and King to be. This secret will hang over them throughout the entirety of the book, in various ways.

Even knowing his secret and not knowing if she could ever live the royal life and all the duties that come with it, neither Erica or Sasha want to part ways. They take on a long distance/secret relationship heads on, and somehow they manage to move to the same country and see each other from time to time when Sasha has some free time from his charity work.

Starting senior at a new school in a new country without knowing a soul is not easy but Erica soon makes a few friends who became central in her life and are loyal to a fault. She starts on the track team because she loves running and hoping it will help her fit in and make more friends.
Soon Erica's life is spent studying with Danny and Ricky at Danny's house, going running with Tyler, Danny's cousin who lives with him, and escaping to see Sasha whenever she and he can. She's getting her life together and integrating well in the new country and falling deeper in love with Sasha while also getting to know the real Tyler bit by bit.

Things start getting complicated, a distance relationship is not easy. When she's with Sasha everything feels right and is perfect but when they're apart doubt fills her head and seeing Sasha on tv pretending to be someone else with the media makes her question if she really knows him at all.
Soon Erica finds her head and heart divided between Sasha and Tyler. She knows Sasha is the love of her life but she also developed feelings for Tyler. They have something between them that is undeniable. Do Erica and Sasha really have a future? Will she ever be ready to go public and live the life of a royal?

First Came Forever is a story about a teenager who finds herself living some sort of fairy tale that she never thought possible. Sometimes it feels like she's living a double life, hiding from the world, lying to her friends back in Sweden, spending only stolen moments with Sasha. This double life causes doubts in both their heads and threatens to mess their relationship up. Tyler's feelings are obvious to Sasha and have him beyond jealous whenever Erica mentions him. Sasha's afraid that's he losing Erica to Tyler when he finds out they are going to be together at her prom, so he decides to drive there. Once he gets there he finds them in a compromising position and when it all comes to blows, he ends up driving off mad and it doesn't end well...

This book had me all over the place with all the teen life dramas and the royal life dramas as well. The friendships, the love triangles, the murder plots all had me glued to this book.
Everything came together in the end in a fantastic way in terms of plot, but for my emotions not so much. Things did not end on a positive note and boy am I glad the second book is out so I can jump right on and find out what happens with all the characters, because they all have me invested in their journey. I can't wait to see how everything plays out, how the truths come out, how relationships will end. I'm so excited.

Book #2 is already available!

 Forever Disguised by Annie Woods

Erica would do anything to turn back time. To get a second chance to make the right decisions. To undo the devastating mistake that ruined everything.
Left heartbroken after the loss of the love of her life, Sasha aka Prince Alexandre, Erica has to find a way to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart and live with the consequences of her actions. But finding the strength to go on with her life is not all she has to contend with. Soon, Erica finds herself in the midst of the evil feuding behind the attack on Sasha and she has to fight to protect herself and all that is near and dear to her.
Amongst all of the confusion, pain and hurt, Tyler proposes a solution that may solve all of her problems. But will Erica go through with Tyler’s crazy scheme?
The much-anticipated second book of the Angelheart Saga Trilogy is another enchanting, heart-wrenching story about the mistakes made in the name of love, full of drama, passion and surprising twists.

Review & Excerpt: Getting Schooled, Emma Chase

Head of the class...

Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.

The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy — he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.

Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.

And knocks him right on his tight end zone.

Back to school...

Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she'd prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.

Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.

Just like old times...

When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance - and then has to stop herself from jumping him.

Good friends are all they can ever be.

Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard — by love.

Includes a special bonus interview with the author!

She was the love of my life, before I had any fucking idea what love was . . . and then, still, even after I did.

This book exceeded my expectations. It was just beyond great and I enjoyed it so so much.
I say this a lot and about a couple of tropes but I'm a sucker for second chance romances and this one completely captivated me and my heart was a lot happy while reading this.

He’s smiling when he reaches me, that same, easy smile. Then he hugs me, envelops me in a warm, friendly embrace. His arms are bigger than I remember, but we fit together perfectly. We always did.

Garrett was just swoon worthy A-F! At first he was just the typical guy who only has friends with benefits relationships but as soon as his girl came back into his life, he was a goner. And it was honestly so freaking sweet. I loved watching these two reunite and get things back to where they had been all those years ago. And let's talk about side characters for a sec... I adored them so much. Garrett and Callie's besties, their families and the students.. it was such an epic bunch. I just loved all the plot lines, I wish there was more for me to read of all these amazing characters.
Oh and I cried.. if you're and animal lover you're probably gonna cry too. Consider this your warning.

“You were always my girl, Callie, even after you weren’t anymore. Do you know what I mean?” I nod. “Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.” We continue to talk about important and silly things. We fill in the cracks, the years, and all the missing pieces between where we were and where we are now. And that’s how we start. That’s how we begin. How we become us . . . again.

I seriously enjoyed everything about this book, no lie. It will be one of those books I'll be happy to re-read time and time again. And it was more than just a romance... the messages with the kids and all the stuff about dreams made this book just perfect. Garrett and Callie will show you that it's okay to change and want different things in life. Your dreams might not be the same you had at 18 when you're 30 and that's perfectly okay. You grow, you change.. that's the beauty of life.

I don’t remember how I lasted sixteen years without Garrett Daniels in my life. Now that he’s back, I’m like a junkie—I crave him, think about him, all the time.

High school parking lots are one of the most dangerous places on earth. I don’t have statistics to back that up…but I know it’s true.

I pull into the school parking lot Monday morning in my Dad’s giant, newly repaired mint-green Buick, with Back in Black by AC/DC blasting from the speakers. I feel tough, powerful—like I’m driving a tank.

I’m a badass teacher—I’ll run you down even if you’re a student—I’ve got twenty-nine more in class just like you.

The outfit helps too—leather boots, blue jeans, a starched white blouse and a black leather jacket. It’s my armor. The morning air is cool and crisp today, but I barely feel it. I’m locked and loaded and ready to roll.

As I march towards the main entrance, I spot Garrett and Dean and Alison Bellinger outside the doors. They pause when they see me, waiting.

“Damn,” Dean chuckles. “Callie’s got her shit-kickers on. Did you dig them out of a mosh pit from 1993?”

Garrett crosses his arms. “Somebody’s channeling Michelle Pfiefer in Dangerous Minds.”

He looks fantastic. His hair is tousled from the breeze and kisses his brow, and he’s wearing a dark blue sweater that’s snug around his biceps and soft, worn, light blue jeans. I remember his arms around me yesterday on my parent’s porch. The wonder and exhilaration of the moment.

Of him.

The intensity in his eyes, the desire and possessiveness in the grasp of his hands. The scorching feel of his mouth, his wet talented tongue that made my stomach swirl and my head spin.

So much for not complicating things.

But I’m not going to play head games with myself or Garrett—we’re too old for that shit.

I have feelings for him—I always have—our break-up had nothing to do with either of us not wanting each other desperately. But these aren’t just leftover echoes of a sweet, first love—this is something new. A throbbing, breathless attraction to the amazing man he’s become. I want to be near him. I want to know him, inside and out, all over again.

And he feels the same way. Garrett wants this version of me as much as he always did—maybe even more. I heard it in his whispered words and felt it in his kiss.

I don’t know if we have a future, if it can go anywhere. We have separate lives on opposite ends of the country. But I’m not going to worry about that—for now, I’m going to take each day as it comes and enjoy every moment we can.

Except for now. Now is not the time for enjoying or worrying or relationship building…now is the time for focusing. Now is the time to be ice and steel—don’t smile, don’t waver.

“Little fucknutters don’t know who the hell they’re dealing with,” I growl.

Allison pumps her fist. “That’s the spirit.”

Garrett opens the door for me. “Go get ‘em, Gangster’s Paradise.”

New Release: Disgrace, Brittainy C. Cherry

Disgrace, an all-new romantic and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is LIVE!

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.
After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.
I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.
All I wanted was for him to come back to me.
Then, Jackson Emery appeared.
He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.
We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.
Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.
I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.
When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.
I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…
I prayed for him to be mine.
Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

Review &Excerpt: Chasing Him, Kennedy Fox

John Bishop isn’t your typical single dad.

Reserved, impatient, and utterly clueless.

Running the family’s bed and breakfast has many perks. Working long hours, picking up after the guests, and hearing couples going at it all night long aren’t any of them. Hooking up with girls who come to the ranch for horseback riding lessons? Best perk of them all.

That is until a baby shows up at his doorstep with a note claiming it’s his. Growing up on a ranch was anything but easy, but raising a newborn is proving to be the hardest task he’ll ever tackle. Leaving the bachelor life behind, his only priority is to hire a nanny who can teach him a thing or two about parenting—except he doesn’t anticipate her being gorgeous and quirky with an unhealthy football obsession.

Mila Carmichael has many talents—making balloon animals, creating origami art, and remaining in the friend zone. Often seen as one of the guys, she’s struck out more times than a rookie baseball player.

Seeking a new adventure, she flies to Texas to visit family and is offered a position she can’t refuse. Helping out a new dad should come easy to her, considering her past experience, but what she doesn’t anticipate is him being an attractive Southern temptation.

But that’s only the beginning.

While growing close to his family and falling madly in love with the baby girl who’s stealing their hearts, things are bound to get complicated. Everyone knows not to mix business with pleasure. That means no late movie nights, no stolen glances, and definitely no kissing behind closed doors. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll threaten taking away the main thing that binds them together.

These ladies never ever disappoint. And these Bishops just keep getting better and better. With each book, and each brother I fall deeper and deeper into their world and fall harder and harder for each brother and this whole magnificent family and group of characters. I loved them all fiercely. But I'm getting ready for my baby, Jackson Bishop. Brooke & Lyra give me all the angst. After the events in this book I ain't expecting an easy ride, so bring all the angst cuz this girl will live in it. I loved the fact that this being John's book, we also got a lot more of Jackson and a much better insight into who he is and what drives him to do the sh*t he does. I was chasing those little bread crumbs throughout the whole book.

Jackson Bishop is like that fun older brother I never had. Sure, I have an older brother, but he’s all business and no play. It feels good to be around someone who’s so carefree, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s the spitting image of John, who I haven’t stopped fantasizing about since I saw him in that towel with water dripping down his chest.

When it came to John and Mila oh lord those two, well three, were so sticking cute! I loved watching them get into their routine, and getting to know one another and Mila fitting right in with the rest of the Bishops. And I lovedddd the way they wanted each other since the first moment but fought it and lusted after one another from a far. Slow burn romances are torture, it's a fact but I kind of like the delayed gratification a lot in novels. It gives the characters a chance to build a solid friendship/basis for their future relationship, and these two, these two formed the best relationship there was. I loved watching them be there for each other, and being cute funny friends. And oh my god I swooned so hard watching Mila and Maisey, those two girls were destined to meet and Mila was honestly the freaking best and cutest with kids.

“Basically, stay away from my nanny. Got it?” Jackson bursts out into laughter. He’s doubled over, trying to catch his breath, but I’m as serious as a heart attack, ready to punch him in the chest and threaten his life if he breaks my rules. “Why? Are you fucking her?” he asks, laughing with amusement. “God knows you’re worse than I am.” “No. Hell no. Those rules are for everyone, and if you break them, I’ll break your fucking neck.” He leans over and whispers loud enough for just me to hear. “But you want to.” “Shut the hell up.”

And then of course there was our newbie daddy who fell for his sweet little girl as soon as he knew she was his. I loved watching John become a dad and working hard to be there with Masey, and doing everything he possibly could for her while still juggling his job. It was just amazing watching him with his baby girl. I swooned a lot, basically throughout the whole freaking book. And then besides John, there's was Jackson, watching Jackson loving on his niece was epic. God, I want his book so so bad. Not too long now but the wait will be a little painful because I've been waiting for this one since the beginning and now I want it more than ever. Things don't look good for him at all :(

Relationships haven’t really been my thing, and now with Maize in the picture, they’re the last thing I need. But it’s not like that with Mila. She’s already a part of the family, and when I watch Maize look at her and smile, it slowly builds a bridge from the dark place in my soul that’s full of regret to where Mila’s standing in the light. The woman has changed me for the better. She loves to give me hell and doesn’t take my shit, and each time I get a sprinkle of her sass, it makes me smile.

Chasing Him just might be my new favorite in the series. I just loved the way Mila and John came to be. I loved their relationship and I adored little Masey. This book was just beautiful. I love getting more and more of all the Bishops, and getting to know everyone a little bit more and how they all engage together. And we even got a little bit of our Courtney and her Drew (my babies).

“He’s my boss, and that’s it. Plus, I only met him the day I started.” “Yeah, but these Bishop boys have a way of making you feel like you’ve known them forever.” There’s definitely some truth to her words, but even so, crossing that line would only end in heartbreak, considering I’m planning to go back to Georgia at the end of the summer.

This family will forever have a piece of my heart. I won't ever be ready to say goodbye not even when that means I'll get my most anticipated book in the series. Bitter-sweetness it will be.

Kennedy Fox wrote another masterpiece in John's story. They brought on the sweetness, the want, the love, the angst and turned it into the perfect story telling that is this book. I think with each new book they bring out their writing gets better. I just love how these two come together to create the funniest, sweetest and most amazing stories. I hope they'll never stop giving me books this great, and written by them as the wonderful duo they are.

John’s POV

As soon as I walk into the living room, I see Mila in tight blue jeans and a low cut shirt that shows way too much cleavage.

“Nope.” Resting my hands on my hips, I look at her, trying not to stare at her chest. It doesn’t help that her nipples are hard as a damn rock either. Fuck. Eyes up.

“Nope, what?” she asks, furrowing her brows in confusion as she grabs Maize out of the swing.

“You can’t wear that shirt. Actually, we should probably set some ground rules since you’ll be staying here around the clock.”

Mila rolls her eyes and kneels down in front of the carseat. She’s dressed Maize in an outfit that says something about Grandma being her favorite, and I know Mama is going to love it. “Is that what you do ‘round here? Make rules for everyone?” She arches an eyebrow with a cocky smirk on her face.

Tilting my head, I narrow my eyes and study her. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Ask Jackson.” She carefully places Maize in the car seat and straps her in. I suck in a deep breath remembering the nanny rules I’d given Jackson, the ones she wasn’t supposed to hear.

“Jackson needs rules. He has zero boundaries. And it’s not like he listens to anyone anyway. Trust me. It’s an open invitation to flirting and ridiculous comments from him. So you can’t be wearing shirts like that around him.”

“...or I can’t be wearing shirts like this around you?” she quips, not paying any attention to how frustrated I’m becoming. “I think I can handle Jackson, so stop worrying yourself.”

“Whatever, Mila.”

She straightens up and looks me dead in the eyes. “You’re my boss and you can make any crazy rules you want when it comes to your baby, but you don’t get to tell me what I can and can’t wear, unless you’re instating a dress code for me and if that’s the case, I want a raise and a clothes allowance then.”

I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest that’s rising and falling rapidly. “How much for you to wear baggy overalls and turtlenecks every day?”

“You’ve got jokes, do you?” she mutters, not amused. “Why not just put a chastity belt on me too while you’re at it?”

I grunt, thinking that’s not a bad idea actually.

Except life has a way of knocking you straight in the teeth with a puck when you least expect it. “You know, you two are always needling each other. I think you’re probably a lot more alike than you think.” His blond hair hung down over his eyes a bit. “Declan and I have nothing in common. Never have. Never will.” “Maybe. Maybe not. See you around, Mak.”

First of all bless Maya's heart for reaching out to me to read her book. I am so so glad she did! I would have missed out on a true masterpiece and that would not have been okay.. I needed to have met the KINGS! She created a perfect new and addicting sports world for me and I know for a fact this series will be one of those that will take over my life, I just know it. All of the Kings already stole a piece of my heart and we barely got a taste of them. So I know that with every book Maya pops out in this series, I'm gonna fall a little (probably a lot) more for each and every one of these guys.
At this point I'm already dying and praying for more. And of course the one I'm most excited for is the one who will probably come last because anticipation is key and it sure will be the death of me. I'm so so very curious about Emmett and Avery, there is so much more to what went on and I'm dying to know it all...

I don't want to be here spoiling anything for anyone because believe me this is one of those books you'll be happy to know little to nothing about, and then be over the moon about how much it surprised you and exceeded your expectations. At least that's how it was for me. I mean with that blurb you get the gist of the story and it sounds freaking amazing! But there was so much more in this book besides that, so many angles and layers. There is so much heat and chemistry between Makenna and Declan. So much ignorance and misconceptions about each other. But once they are forced together, quite literally, for the whole college semester, they find out there's a lot more to the other than they had always thought. They help each other out, besides the school work and soon they open their hearts up to one another and to a chance at love. And once they do there is so much love and patience, beyond steamy hot sex and also so much swoonness (is this a word? if not, now it is!).

“You know, you two are always needling each other. I think you’re probably a lot more alike than you think.” His blond hair hung down over his eyes a bit. “Declan and I have nothing in common. Never have. Never will.” “Maybe. Maybe not. See you around, Mak.”

These two will just win you over from the start and then make you fall more in love with them as they fall in love with each other. They were truly amazing characters, and I won't soon forget them (if ever because I honestly don't think it's possible to). You'll finish this book wanting more more more. I never wanted it to end, that's how much I loved it.

“You know, you two are always needling each other. I think you’re probably a lot more alike than you think.” His blond hair hung down over his eyes a bit. “Declan and I have nothing in common. Never have. Never will.” “Maybe. Maybe not. See you around, Mak.”

Shameless King was not only hot, it was super fun and sweet and overall spectacular. All the characters are amazing and you'll just want more of everyone, you'll want to know everything about each and every one of the Kings, the team mates...everyone. I'm so ready for more of this series, so so beyond ready! I can't wait to see where Maya takes it, and I'm dying to know who comes next, will it be sweet Emmett, mysterious Colm, intriguing Ford or hilarious Heath?
I'm honestly fine with any of them because I know I'll love them all.

If you're a fan of:

  • (hockey) sports romances
  • college romances
  • enemies to lovers
  • study partners
  • a tight knitted group of friends and team mates
  • a strong and nerdy heroine
  • confident, sexy and overall great hero

then read Shameless King because this book is so for you!

You know that pact you make with your childhood best
friend of the opposite sex? The one where, if you’re both still single, lonely
and hopeless at thirty, you’ll marry each other?

This is the story about what happens when you hit the big three-oh and have to
make good on that pinky promise.

Personally, I think love, romance and all of that nonsense is a crock of, well,
you know. And Reese Collins, the boy who used to put worms in my hair at
backyard barbecues, knows that better than anyone.

But when he moves to the same city I’ve happily, and singly, inhabited for
years, memories of oaths past resurface. Reese is like a dog with a bone; a
really hot dog and that bone just happens to be me.

He won’t stop hounding me, and the crazy thing is, my frigid, traitorous heart
is starting to cave. For my best friend.

It seems so far off, when you’re a kid playing Monopoly in your treehouse. But
when that clock strikes midnight on your thirtieth birthday, and you’re
standing alone in front of a grocery store-bought cupcake, a childhood deal to
walk down the aisle doesn’t seem so silly anymore.

Best friends to lovers romance? Count me in!
Marriage pact? Even more intriguing.
Romcom that will make me laugh? Yes please!

If any of these things interest you then keep on reading...

Carrie wrote two very unique characters in these two. Reese is a very confident guy who likes to always be in a relationship even when there's no love on his part. He likes the companionship and not living alone. Erin is a bit cynic. Ok, not a bit, she's a whole lot of cynic. Watching her sweet and loving parents who always seemed perfect get a divorce completely destroyed her belief on love. Especially since she was the one who took care of her mother when she was all but destroyed.

It's almost Reese and Erin's 30th birthdays and Reese comes back to their hometown, where Erin still lives, for a job interview but also for the pact they made when they were 15.

"That I had to have some kind of insurance policy, because I was in love with you. And do you remember what I did the next morning? We were sitting in your backyard, and I proposed the pact. Because I wanted to make sure, that after it all, after we grew and made mistakes and sowed our oats, that we would come together. Because I’m in love with you. I’ve been in love with you for a very long time. And it doesn’t have to be that romantic, sweep you off your feet, take a bullet for you love … although I’d do that. Love can be quiet and patient. It can wait for the other person to be ready, while also laughing and spending time with that person. That’s why I want to fulfill the pact, because I actually meant it when I proposed it at fifteen. You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted to marry. It’s probably why I could never get a relationship right, because I was just biding my time until you softened to the idea.”

With their birthdays fast approaching they both have the pact in mind, Reese because he wants to go through with it ad Erin because she's scared he does. When Reese is accepted for the job, he moves back home and tries to convince Erin to go through with the pact.

But with all her cynicism it isn't easy and even though she always had feelings for Reese just like he did for her, she doesn't believe they could really be together in a romantic capacity.  She's scared he is only pursuing her because of the pact and because he doesn't want to be alone.
Yet when Reese tells her how he always felt she gives a romantic relationship with him a chance and oh do they make the perfect paring. Let's not even talk about the sex... they are both f«crazy for having waited so long to take this step in their relationship.

Carrie wrote a super sweet best friends to lovers romance, with a bit of angst and some steam; and well for a romcom it was much more sweet than it was funny but it did have some laugh out loud moments.
I genuinely adored this one, just as much as I love the cover. Reese and Erin were a true great paring and I adored their journey.
