Review: Letters to Molly, Devney Perry

Molly Alcott didn’t expect
to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between
bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over
fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the
man she’ll never forget.

Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in
the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the
confession of the man who still owns Molly’s heart.

The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be
told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.

Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one
sending them.

REVIEW

The moment is finally here. I've wanted this book since Molly and Finn first appeared on The Birthday List! I was beyond happy to hear they would be getting their book and it was way beyond any of my expectations. I loved it so much.

Finn and Molly are both such amazing people and parents, each of them made mistakes in their marriage that lead to their downfall and ever since they have been miserable without each other. Finn tried like heck to move on but every single relationship was a failure because no woman was close to the perfection that was Molly. And Molly, she has been living for her children, getting her life back on track, finding herself again and trying to get over the guilt and the heartbreak of not being with Finn anymore. Seeing him everyday, watching him with their kids is a punch to the gut every time and it's so hard for her, specially now that they are on good terms and are sort of friends.

This book is not easy to read. It is heartwrenching. You feel so much for these two and what they've been through, every letter being worst than the last and bringing with it so much emotion and pain. But at the same time, it brings back the memories good and bad and it's so hard for Molly and Finn to remember and see exactly where they went wrong. They work through it, one letter at at time and Finn finally realises that Molly wasn't the only one to blame for their divorce. Each of them played their part in their ending and now it's time either let it all go or try again, this time with their all.

Letters to Molly is another Devney Perry masterpiece that just proves how amazing this woman and her brain are. Her words are perfect and her stories even more so. I loved this book to pieces, if The Birthday List had been my favorite, this one just become a second or even a runner-up.
