Review: The Lying Season, K. A. Linde

A new second chance standalone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

Walking away from Sam Rutherford was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
It's been five years since that day, and I've given up on looking for love. My focus is on my career. And it's paid off--I'm successfully managing the reelection for the mayor of New York City.

Then Sam walks into my office as the new legal counsel. Which means I have to see him every single day from now until November. We vow to remain professional, but it's a small office. The sly glances and his blistering charm are unavoidable.

It all feels so familiar. Too comfortable. After what happened the first time... I should know better.

If I'm not careful, he'll break my heart all over again.

And I don't know if I can survive Sam a second time.

Review
The Lying Season is a fabulous introduction to a new world K. A. Linde created centered on the Upper East Side's Elite. Lark and Sam's story is second chance, office romance that has heart, angst, drama and a group of friends that I'm dying to know more about.

From the very beginning I was super curious about what had happened between these two 5 years ago, it was clear that neither of them were over each other from the moment their eyes locked again. The way they tried to be friends but then avoided each other because they were afraid of what they would let happen... add in the fact that Sam has a girlfriend... these two were a mess for a while but the angst man, it had my heart throbbing in my chest...
Lark's reactions to things had me tearing up left and right... that girl was so not over Sam and the hope she held on for them had me praying everything would work out in the end. It was very messy, lots of drama surrounding their friends, families and relationship which was very entertaining, had me all kinds of curious to know more about each of their friends and all the things that were hidden away. I cannot wait for each of these characters to get their own book so I can learn everything.

The Lying Season was an amazing reading experience, almost as if I was watching a season of Gossip Girl right before my eyes. I loved it and there's no more proof needed beyond the fact that I read this book in one sitting.
